The project partners are the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Environment, educational institutions and environmental organizations. The presentation was held at the Republican environmental centre for children and youth, with approximately 80 attendants. Mr Victor Yakzhyk from the Ministry of Education gave an introductory speech, followed by a representative from the Norwegian Embassy in Kiev. Yngvild Lorentzen from Friends of the Earth Norway then informed about the SPARE project’s basic principles and its international implementation.

One of the main priorities in Belarus will be to adapt project material to Belorussian conditions, including a text book and workbook. Building teacher’s competence through a teacher’s training programme insures up-to-date knowledge on pressing issues like climate change and energy saving measures. The schools will also execute practical energy saving actions on their own premises. One of the key elements of the project is to reach society in general through the pupils and libraries.

In addition to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Environment, the partners in the project are the Republican Environmental Centre for Children and Youth, the International Sakharov Environmental University, the Radiotechnical College, Birdlife Belarus and Ecoproject.
